What is Instrument Labs?
Instrument Labs is an interactive music-theory workspace for seeing and hearing scales, modes, chords, progressions, melodies, and playable instrument patterns. Labs are designed for exploration, while Exercises build repetition and Challenges test recall.
Which instruments are currently supported?
Instrument Labs currently supports Guitar, Piano, and Ukulele. Each instrument has its own layouts, playable ranges, theory diagrams, exercises, and challenges.
What can I use without creating an account?
Visitors can open each Guitar, Piano, and Ukulele Scales & Modes landing page and Lab. The Community Jam Repo can also be browsed and auditioned without an account.
What does a free account unlock?
A free account unlocks Scales & Modes Exercises and Challenges, Chord Theory, Chord Progression and Jam Labs, Piano Songs Lab, cloud project storage, and synchronized challenge progress.
Are paid plans available yet?
Not yet. Monthly and Yearly plans are displayed as upcoming options on the Pricing page. Instrument Labs will provide clear notice before paid access or billing is enabled.
Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
Yes. Once paid plans launch, you will be able to cancel at any time. Your paid access will continue through the end of your current billing period, and you will not be charged for the next billing period.
Is my challenge progress saved across devices?
Yes, when you are signed in. Instrument Labs synchronizes your challenge setup, placed notes, hints, answer state, current score, best score, and completion history so you can continue on another device.
Why do I need to interact with the page before audio plays?
Modern browsers block websites from starting audio automatically. Clicking or tapping a Play control, fretboard position, or piano key gives the browser permission to start the Instrument Labs audio engine.
Why might the same pitch have different note names?
Some pitches are enharmonic, meaning they sound the same but have different names, such as F-sharp and G-flat. Instrument Labs chooses note spellings that fit the selected key, scale, mode, or chord whenever possible.
What is the Community Jam Repo?
The Community Jam Repo is a public collection of shared musical projects. Visitors can browse and audition published projects; publishing and importing are planned as paid membership features.
